This was the second time I had been commissioned to do a duck stamp painting for the state of Alaska. The painting features lesser Canada geese at Cook Inlet. I did a lot of research for this painting and actually had a lesser Canada goose shipped to me. Research is essential when painting something you’re not as familiar with. Unfortunately, flying to Alaska or wherever to do research, is not always possible. In these instances, making contacts is most important. If you look close, you may find some other wildlife species in this painting besides the Geese.
