“Autumn's Majesty” (12” X 16” - Oil - 1999)
Autumn's Majesty

This painting received a second place finish in the 1999 Ohio Duck Stamp competition. If you noticed that it is similar to my winning Federal Duck Stamp painting you’re right. It was originally done as a practice painting for my 1999 Federal Duck Stamp entry. When the Ohio Ducks Unlimited committee saw the painting they called me to see if I would be willing to let them use it for their sponsor print. I have painted a lot of canvasbacks. Canvasbacks are such a great bird. Some ducks just seem wilder than others do and the canvasback just seems to have a very wild quality about them. There is also perhaps no other species of duck with more North American history then the canvasback. This canvasback painting was not my first and I can promise it won’t be my last.
